It was the Nevada desert and regular annual visits to ghost cities in different parts of Nevada which inspired Alexey to compose this EP. Nevada, in fact, becomes a central place on the world map, which links together his patchy childhood memories, the present and the silence of the desert.

The main idea of the album is to express a close connection to utterly empty, abandoned, but congenial places, in which we do not exist, but whose movement of time we distinctively feel.

The title track, “The Room”, is dedicated to the musician's room in his Moscow apartment where he spent his childhood and is full of street sounds and ambiance. It was recorded from the room windows at the dead of night, with the maximum pre-amplification of sound, to immerse a listener in the atmosphere of an absolutely empty, dark apartment in a big city which, regardless of the presence of a human being, is filled with sounds.

We can hear in detail the disturbing atmosphere of the night in a residential district, the sounds of cars driving along a highway, the laughter and conversation of random people, the wind.

The field-recording technology was actively used in the creation of this EP, with the sound being recorded on a Nagra 4.2 device from the 70s. In addition to the room ambiance, you can feel different atmospheric soundscapes, including a record made on a New York subway train.
